In this profound, meditative and immersive film, Jonathan Glazer focuses on Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife as they strive to build a dream life next to the concentration camp with no regard to the horrors unfolding next door. Together with a unique and innovative work on sound and image, the film is brilliantly carried by the character of the wife played by the outstanding Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) whose coldness and oblivious state enhance the unsettling effect of the whole story.
