The Institut français du Royaume-Uni is proud to support the presence of Jean-Baptiste del Amo, Anne Serre and Elisa Shua Dusapin at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, held this summer from 10 to 25 August. A yearly celebration of international literature since 1983, the EIBF brings together illustrious and burgeoning authors, thinkers, and artists from around the world to engage with visitors through on-stage conversations, creative masterclasses, and think tanks.

In conversation with writer Robbie Arnott and singer-songwriter Malachy Tallack on the 20 August, Jean-Baptiste del Amo will discuss the themes of inheritance, fatherhood and generational trauma as exposed in his recent novel, The Son of Man (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2024).

On 21 August, the prolific author Anne Serre will discuss with Lee Randall her latest success, A Leopard-Skin Hat (Lolli Editions, 2024) and its depictions of the hardships and challenges of care, friendship, and loss as resulting from a psychological disorder.

Finally, on 22 August, critically acclaimed author of Vladivostok Circus (Daunt Books, 2024) Elisa Shua Dusapin will delve into the inherent beauty of competition and costume designers emerging from her novel’s brutal setting of the wintery, Russian far east. She will be in dialogue with Rita Bullwinkel.
