After 47 years of playing music together, the Emerson String Quartet recorded their last album, Infinite voyage, in three days. For this farewell, they invited soprano Barbara Hannigan to join them, and a film was born, produced, directed, filmed and recorded by actor Mathieu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Quantum of Solace). Before it’s Too Late invites the audience behind-the-scenes of the Quartet’s final collaboration: with moments of fright and enthusiasm, research and jokes, evening meals and morning confidences, craft and discovery…
The Emerson String Quartet has earned widespread acclaim, winning nine Grammy Awards and the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize in 2004. Inducted into the Classical Music Hall of Fame in 2010, their legacy in the world of classical music is unparalleled.
The screening on 29 November at 18.00 will be followed by an extended Q&A with actor and director Mathieu Amalric, moderated by Cyril Neyrat, artistic director at FIDMarseille.
