Presented at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Claire Simon’s documentary unveils the profound impact of teachers’ devotion to their students. In the Makarenko public elementary school on the outskirts of Paris, children want to learn and to be encouraged while teachers know they do more than teaching: they educate. With care, tenacity and effort, children are not only trained, but they are taught to become responsible citizens and human beings.
