Tarek Lakhrissi: SPIT at Nicoletti, London

19 Sept - 2 Nov
Arts

Nicoletti gallery is opening its new Shoreditch space with SPIT, a solo exhibition by Fluxus Art Projects supported French artist Tarek Lakhrissi. The show explores the dual symbolism of spit and saliva, which were once regarded as curative in holy scriptures and mediaeval sages yet have also come to embody violence and disdain. Lakhrissi examines the act of spitting through its erotic and aggressive dimensions, focusing on liquid exchanges between bodies to explore themes of violence, subversion, protection, and community. The contrast of materials and their elemental symbolism further deepens this exploration, making SPIT a compelling reflection on the intersections of desire, disgust, and human interaction.
