About Benoît Dratwicki
Benoît Dratwicki studied the cello, the bassoon and chamber music before turning to music history, analysis, aesthetics and orchestration. He holds a doctorate in musicology (2014) and is qualified at a university teacher grade (2023). Since 2001, he has been a researcher and artistic director at the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles. At the same time, he was artistic director (2006-2009) and then artistic adviser (2009-/) of the Palazzetto Bru Zane (Centre for French Romantic Music) in Venice and founder and artistic director of the Haydneum (Centre for Early Hungarian Music) in Budapest (2020-2024). A specialist in court music, the Paris Opera and French singing under the Ancien Régime, he has published numerous articles and monographs on these various subjects and has supervised the exhumation and recording of more than a hundred French operas from the 17th to the 20th centuries, for which he has produced the vocal casts. He regularly gives master classes and prepares recitals, concerts and shows alongside numerous singers, conductors and stage directors (coaching, stylistics, declamation). He is a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres (2023).
