In cultural partnership with the BFI
One of cinema’s most innovative and influential filmmakers, Chantal Akerman (1950–2015) directed films that continue to provoke and inspire.
Akerman reshaped the language of cinema with her unique approach to narrative, time, and space. With the re-release in February of her seminal film Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975), voted #1 film of all times by Sight & Sound in 2023, this retrospective, in partnership with the BFI, celebrates her groundbreaking contribution to cinema and visual arts. Sonia Wieder-Atherton, her longtime music collaborator and world-renowned cellist, will be at Ciné Lumière for a special screening and performance in February.
