The TCF IRN is for any foreigner over 16 years of age who wishes to validate their level of French for an application for French nationality (level B1), an application for a long-term resident’s card (level A2), validation of the A1 level as part of the OFII citizenship programme.
To all candidates sitting an exam to apply for French nationality
You may be aware that the immigration Law in France is subject to changes which will affect the process to apply for French nationality.
It has come to our attention that a decree of law could be signed this summer which would affect the process for French nationality. Indeed, from September, you could be required to demonstrate a level B2 to apply for French nationality.
From the 2nd of May, the TCF IRN (Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité) will test your level up to the B2 and the certificate will be sent by email 3 to 4 weeks after the test.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EXAM WILL BE PAPER-BASED.
The TCF IRN is composed of 4 compulsory sections assessing skills in French as a general language
