Over its 40 years of operation, the Moda Polska fashion house brought together many outstanding creators and a large group of models. In 1998, following its bankruptcy, Jerzy Antkowiak acquired its collections and stored them in his basement for two decades. For years, these pieces remained a significant part of his life, each tied to a unique memory. Yet, they were forgotten by the world, until his eightieth birthday celebration, when he revealed them to his guests. This moment sparked the idea for a documentary film and the exhibition Jerzy Antkowiak: Moda Polska. The exhibition’s preparations serve as a starting point to explore the journey of a designer working through the challenging realities of the Polish People’s Republic and political transformation, as well as the enduring bonds of Modapolska.
