‘It’s a lovely night… Shall we go out?… Come on… Let’s go dancing in town.’
This film is almost made from the point of view of Brussels itself, as if the city was capturing all the fragile, brief romantic encounters happening across its homes and streets throughout one passionate and sultry midsummer’s evening. It’s proof that Akerman was a poet of the night, of romance and its flipside, despair, and of urban spaces.
Screening on 11 March followed by a Q&A with Marilyn Watelet, Chantal Akerman’s long time producer and collaborator
Restored by Royal Film Archive of Belgium (CINEMATEK), Fondation Chantal Akerman and Amazing Digital Studios, Paris.
