After the success of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and the Demoiselles de Rochefort, Jacques Demy accepted a proposal from Columbia to shoot in the USA. There, he imagined a new chapter in the life of Lola who ends up a bit lost in Venice Beach, LA.

Model Shop is the most melancholic of all of Demy’s films, and a beautiful exploration of loss and longing.
