The Taking of Power by Louis XIV

From Sun 23 to Fri 28 Feb

When Mazarin died, Louis XIV was 23 years old. While he did not seem to care about power, the young king suddenly revealed an understanding of state affairs and developed a precise political programme which in a few years would make him the “Sun King”. A masterful illustration of the educational ambition that Rossellini had with regards to television, and a model reconstruction in terms of historical accuracy.

Film Club

Screenings on February will be introduced by film critic and programmer Roberto Oggiano and followed by a discussion with the audience, as part of our film club, Finally Sunday. No booking is necessary (it’s free to attend), you just need to buy a ticket to the film.
