  • Objectives
    Develop your Legal/business terminology on various topics to become more confident when communicating with your francophone colleagues or clientsThe course is spread over 3 terms, but you can join at the beginning of any term.

 Autumn term: Introduction to the French Legal system, Government and Legislative institutions, Legal professions, French courts and their proceedings

 Winter term: Business and Company Law, Competition and Consumer Law, Property Law, Tort, Employment Law, the French Tax and Social security system

 Summer term: European an International Law, Human rights, French Administrative Law, Environment, Arbitration, Family and Succession Law.

  • Learning approach
    You will read current press articles, listen to podcasts/interviews or debates and write essays, formal letters, comment court decisions and task-based exercises between classes to improve your writing skills and use specialised vocabulary. You will also be encouraged to share your experience discussing different Legal topics and make formal presentations about interests or field of expertise.

  • Tutor
    Martial Quéro graduated at ESC Rennes in International Business and is also a qualified legal translator and court interpreter, Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists specialising in Business and Law.  He has also been teaching Legal and Business French in City law firms for many years and is an examiner for CCIP exams at the Language Centre.
