I have registered for a course, what’s next?

Upon registration, you will receive an immediate email confirmation of your enrolment. Shortly before your first lesson, your teacher will send an invitation email containing the link to join your virtual classroom. Please note, this email may arrive up to a few hours before your initial lesson.
If you are unfamiliar with Microsoft Teams or similar applications, we recommend reviewing our user-friendly tutorial to facilitate a seamless connection.

How to connect to Teams

Before logging in, please follow these steps to ensure an optimal connection:
1. Download the Microsoft Teams Application:
Ensure you have the latest version of the app installed on your device. https://www.microsoft.com/en/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software

2. Use your personnal email address and your device:– Sign in with the email address you provided during registration.
– Do not use a corporate or school email address for your online class.
– We advise you not use a corporate of a school device for your online class at the French Institute to avoid limitations.

3. Use the ‘Institut francais’ MS Teams account
– If you are using Teams with another account (e.g., corporate or personal), please log in using the MS Teams ‘Institut francais’ account before accessing your class.

Click your profile icon (top-right corner of the Teams window) and select the ‘Institut francais’ account from the dropdown menu.

4. Close other applications:
– To enhance performance, close all other open applications on your computer.

5. Update your devices:
– Ensure all your devices have the updates installed to maintain security and functionality.

6. Join the online class:
– Click on the invitation link provided in the email from your teacher to join the class.
– If you haven’t received it, please check your spam or junk folder.

If you have registered at the last minute and your course starts today, please contact us at customer.relations@institut-francais.org.uk to receive your invitation email with the class link.

We have designed an easy-to-follow tutorial to assist young learners in connecting to the platform.

Why do we use Teams?

We have chosen Microsoft Teams for its secure, user-friendly interface, which is free to use on Mac, PC, tablet, or mobile devices. It facilitates live videoconferencing and collaborative work between you, your group, and your teacher. For the best experience, we recommend using a personal computer, as they typically offer more robust performance than smartphones or tablets.

Connection Issues

If you encounter any problems, restarting your computer can often resolve them. For mobile phone users, ensure a reliable internet connection; using Wi-Fi instead of cellular data can provide better stability. Additionally, closing other apps and clearing your phone’s cache can help optimize performance.
