To mark Francophonie Month, the French Institute, in collaboration with its partners, has curated a diverse programme of events throughout March. Designed to engage a wide audience, the events celebrate the richness of the French language and Francophone cultures.

A Youth-Focused Programme 

To promote the learning of French and highlight Francophone cultures, a variety of activities will be organised for children and young adults.

 

At the French Institute

 

Beyond

  • 17–21 March: The second edition of Francophonie on the Road will visit Dereham, Lincoln, Solihull, and Portsmouth

 

Events for the General Public

The 2025 programme also aims to showcase Francophonie through literary encounters and film screenings, open to all.

 

At the French Institute

Three literary discussions will be held at the French Institute:

  • 5 March: Clara Dupont-Monod, for the English publication of S’adapter (And the Stones Cry Out).

  • 27 March: Neige Sinno, discussing the English translation of Triste Tigre (Sad Tiger).

  • 28 March: Camille Laurens, in conversation following the Choix Goncourt UK, about her latest book Ta promesse (in French).

  • 11 March: Screening of When Autumn Falls, followed by a Q&A with director François Ozon and lead actress Hélène Vincent.

  • Throughout March, the Chantal Akerman  film series continues.

 

Beyond

 

Francophonie Across the UK 

  • The Institut français d’Ecosse and its partners have also curated a rich programme in March, including talks, theatre performances, film screenings, and workshops. 
  • The Alliances Françaises across the UK will host both online and in-person events, including quizzes, readings, conferences, and film screenings.
