With a subtle nod to Agnès Varda’s Jane B. for Agnes V. (1988), Gainsbourg crafts an intimate portrait of Jane Birkin, a singer, an actor, an icon and her mother. Through the camera lens, they expose themselves to one another and overcome a shared sense of reserve.
