As part of the celebrations for the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, the exhibition When Marianne and Britannia Meet was launched on 27 March 2024 at the Institut français. 

 

Hélène Duchêne, Ambassador of France to the UK, Lucy Frazer, Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Simon Eedle, Senior Country Manager UK at Natixis, and Anissia Morel, Director of the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and Cultural Counsellor to the French Embassy to the UK, launched the exhibition When Marianne and Britannia Meet.

Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Minister for the Indo-Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Thomas Tugendhat,  Minister for Security, also attended the opening.

This free exhibition, presented from 28 March to 27 April at the Institut français, features unique archival material exploring the history of the Entente Cordiale and its impact on diplomatic relations between France and the UK.

The exhibition has been curated by Charlotte Faucher (University of Bristol) and Guillaume Perissol (Institut français du Royaume-Uni) and made possible thanks to the generous support of Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking and the Friends of the French Institute Trust.
